Mold can cause a variety of health issues

Allergic reactions, toxic reactions, and internal infections are all possible mold symptoms.

Most physical reactions to mold exposure are mold allergy symptoms which can include the following:

  • Cold or flu like symptoms

  • Coughing, sneezing or wheezing

  • Sore, itchy or irritated throat

  • Blocked, itchy or runny nose

  • Sinus congestion & sinus headaches

  • Itchy, watery, red, or bloodshot eyes

  • Irritated or itchy skin

  • Skin rash

Some mold species can create highly toxic chemicals called mycotoxins. Mycotoxins cause much more severe reactions than the allergic symptoms caused by most mold species.

  • Bleeding

  • Damage to internal organs

  • Mental impairment

  • Cancer

  • Even death in some cases

Mold infections do not usually occur in healthy people. Those at risk for these infections are babies & young children, the elderly, and anyone with a suppressed or compromised immune system.

Mold infections occur when mold spores are inhaled into a person's lungs and begin to grow inside them. These infections can also grow in the skin, sinuses, and digestive organs.
